Tough love, but good advice from Chris Cleave. The whole thing is worth reading, find it here. This happened to me last week; I had no idea what to make happen in my story. I was (figuratively) poking my characters and saying ‘Do something!’ But I’ve been here before so I kept going, and eventually it began to improve and now I think it’s going to be one of my favourite stories.
I’m not always this good, though. The dead giveaway is when I start baking … once I even made granola.
